You can't go wrong with Wreaths

Great as gifts or to add a personal touch to your own home.

I love wreathes.  Period.  I like to make them, I like to add flowers to them, and I like to customize them for gifts for friends.  They are an easy piece of wall art to put anywhere in the home.  Recently I decided to change up some wall décor in my own home and bought four good-sized wreaths on magnoliamarket.com (I love the Gaines!).  When I'm hanging anything on a wall I can be very picky and have to make sure it will flow throughout the house.  It takes me awhile for my own home anyway to decide what will go up.  I ended up hanging a big wreath over my couch and then two entering my room.  The three images below are of wreaths that I gifted to friends.  Moral of the story here, I don’t think you can go wrong with wreathes whether you are looking to spice up your own décor, or just have some fun making gifts for friends and family!

Simple Bathroom Upgrade

How paint, a new light fixture, and a touch of love can transform a bathroom in a matter of hours.

A few years ago my spouse and I were planning on selling our house and wanted to do some upgrades that were within our budget.  This particular upgrade was on the half bathroom located between the master bedroom and laundry room.  It originally was a light yellow paint color and the faucet was the only oil-rubbed bronze hardware anywhere.  I decided to go with a burnt orange paint color to really bring out the accents in the hardware and chose all oil-rubbed bronze hardware from the light fixture to the soap dispenser; all hardware in this bathroom is oil-rubbed bronze (we even found a nice recessed toilet paper holder for less than $20).  All hardware was purchased at our local Menards and all the items were reasonably priced.  The décor was purchased at either second hand stores or at the dollar store, and of course I added a touch of style with a few complimentary colors that brought it all together. It's like a fall themed bathroom that was completely transformed for under $100!

DIY Crate Shelving

How to make your own shelving out of wooden crates.

Crate Shelving is a budget friendly DIY project.  This project came about for me last summer, I had moved from a place that had built in shelving that I was able to put my books on and add some décor.  I had my box of books in the corner of my living room with nowhere to go.  I searched Pinterest and found this crate project and thought genius.  I went to Home Depot bought a few crates, a sponge tipped brush, and a dark stain/poly finish .  I found Home Depot had the most reasonably priced unfinished crates.  You will also need a clean tarp to work on.  I started with the outside of the crate first and worked my way to the inside, this took a few hours.  I let it air-dry outside for a few days, as the stain smell can be pretty strong.  I repeated this with 4 crates.  It’s a good way to stay organized and give the home a bit of a rustic feel. You can also add some pictures and accents to give it a more cozy feel.
